Lion QueenLion Queen Pawprints marked the ground from hunts before. Claw marks gouged rock and sand where a lioness had once stopped before, peering around the thick tawny bushes, hiding their pelts from sight of their intended prey. How carefully they must have pressed their sleek bodies to the ground, stalked forward, and then leapt—their target the throat of a hopefully unknowing gazelles and various other prey. The belly of this lioness had swollen, so it scraped the ground whenever she crouched to hunt. Soon, though, it would be time for the other lioness’ to hunt without her. VeryLion Queen
